Holy cow, it seems like I look up for a minute or two and another month has flown by. It seems like we just finished Christmas and here it is almost Valentines day. I still don’t have all of my Christmas projects finished. I still have 3 swedish butter knives to finish, 2 kiridashi knives, a magic folding table for my son, and a bunch of paintable animals for my other son.
Plus, I need to make something cool for my wife. Frankly, I hate valentines day overall. I don’t like being browbeaten over the worlds need to make sure I tell m wife I love her. I don’t like the guilt and shame of commercials advertising diamonds for only $4000, because you really need to show your valentine how much you love her.
I say screw it all. I don’t need anyone telling me what day I have to love my wife, I think every other day should cover it. That being said, I still feel obligated to do something on valentines day. At this point, nearly 20 years into the marriage, I like the excuse to be making something for her. In the past, I have done folded books, steel hearts, rings, earrings, a sign that says love and tilts at crazy angles when the kids get a hold of it, and some small lidded keepsake boxes.
What am I going to do this year? I don’t know yet, but I have about 3 days to figure it out. Suggestions from the peanut gallery willbe gratefully accepted in the comments below.
Until next time,
Justin
